WEATHER SUMMARY FOR PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS...CORRECTED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS NE
648 AM CDT SUN APR 26 2015

EARLY SUNDAY MORNING...A BLANKET OF LOW CLOUDS COVERED THE VAST
MAJORITY OF THE LOCAL SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA AND NORTH CENTRAL
KANSAS AREA...WITH SOME LIGHT DRIZZLE FALLING AS WELL...ESPECIALLY
SOUTH AND WEST OF THE TRI CITIES. TEMPERATURES AROUND SUNRISE WERE
FAIRLY UNIFORM...WITH MOST LOCAL AIRPORTS REPORTING READINGS IN THE
MID 40S.

FOR MOST OF THE LOCAL AREA...TODAY WILL BE ANOTHER SEASONABLY COOL
DAY WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES ONLY TOPPING OUT SOMEWHERE IN THE 50S. IN
MOST PLACES...AT LEAST THE MORNING HOURS WILL FEATURE PLENTIFUL
CLOUD COVER ALONG WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF LIGHT...PATCHY DRIZZLE.
HOWEVER...AS THE DAY WEARS ON...INCREASING SUNSHINE SHOULD GRADUALLY
MAKE AN APPEARANCE IN PARTS OF THE AREA...ESPECIALLY FOR LOCATIONS
NEAR AND EAST OF THE HIGHWAY 281 CORRIDOR SUCH AS GRAND
ISLAND...YORK AND HEBRON. MEANWHILE...WESTERN COMMUNITIES SUCH AS
HOLDREGE...LEXINGTON AND PHILLIPSBURG ARE MORE FAVORED TO HOLD ONTO
CLOUD COVER THE MAJORITY OF THE DAY. BREEZES TODAY WILL AVERAGE FROM
AN EASTERLY DIRECTION AT GENERALLY 10 TO 15 MPH WITH SOME HIGHER
GUSTS...ADDING A BIT OF CHILL TO THE AIR. FOR TONIGHT...DRY
CONDITIONS PREVAIL...ALTHOUGH IT WILL LIKELY BE THE CHILLIEST NIGHT
OF THE WEEK WITH LOW TEMPERATURES BOTTOMING OUT IN THE MID TO UPPER
30S ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA.

LOOKING AHEAD OVER THE UPCOMING WEEK...THE MAIN WEATHER STORIES
REVOLVE AROUND GRADUALLY WARMING TEMPERATURES AND PRIMARILY DRY
CONDITIONS. TEMPERATURE-WISE...NEARLY EVERY DAY SHOULD RISE A FEW
DEGREES WARMER THAN THE DAY BEFORE...AS HIGHS AVERAGE IN THE 60S ON
MONDAY BEFORE CLIMBING WELL INTO THE 70S LATER IN THE WEEK.
PRECIPITATION-WISE...THE ONLY OFFICIAL MENTION OF RAIN AT THIS TIME
IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ON SATURDAY.
HOWEVER...THERE ARE SOME HINTS IN THE LATEST FORECAST MODELS THAT AT
LEAST SPOTTY RAINFALL CANNOT BE RULED OUT AS EARLY AS THURSDAY
NIGHT...SO STAY TUNED FOR POSSIBLE FORECAST ADJUSTMENTS AS THE WEEK
GOES ON.
