JANUARY 2010 - Colder than Normal

Riverton's January average temperature was 12.5 degrees which was 2.4 degrees below normal.  The coldest low temperature was 25 degrees below zero on the 7th.  The warmest high temperature was 36 degrees on the 19th.

Precipitation for January was 0.22 inches which was 0.06 below normal for the month.  Snowfall was 3.6 inches which slightly below normal.

FEBRUARY 2010 - Wetter than Normal and Colder than Normal

Riverton's February average temperature was 20.3 degrees which was 1.8 degrees below normal.  The coldest low temperature was 13 degrees below zero on the 22nd.  The warmest high temperature was 46 degrees on the 28th.

Precipitation for February was 0.44 inches which was 0.19 inches above normal for the month.  Snowfall was 9.2 inches which ranked 9th snowiest on record.

MARCH 2010 - Warmer than Normal and Wetter than Normal

Riverton's March average temperature was 38.6 degrees which was 3.7 degrees above normal.  March 2010 ranked 10th warmest on record.  The coldest low temperature was 15 degrees on the 20th.  The warmest high temperature was 67 degrees on the 17th.

Precipitation for March was 0.79 inches which was 0.31 inches above normal.  Snowfall was 8.1 inches which was well above normal. 

APRIL 2010 - Much Wetter than Normal

Riverton's April average temperature was 44.4 degrees which was 0.3 degrees above normal.  The coldest low temperature was 23 degrees on the 10th.  The warmest high temperature was 75 degrees on the 19th. 

Precipitation for April was 1.99 inches which was 0.98 inches above normal.  Snowfall was 13.6 inches which ranked as the 13th snowiest on record. 

MAY 2010 - Much Colder than Normal and Much Wetter than Normal

Riverton's May average temperature was 48.5 degrees which was 5.3 degrees below normal.  The coldest low temperature was 23 degrees on the 7th...which was a record low for May 7th.  The warmest high temperature was 88 degrees on the 28th.

Precipitation for May was 3.91 inches which was 2.13 inches above normal.  May 2010 was the 10th wettest May on record.  Snowfall was 13.6 inches.  May 2010 was the Snowiest May on record.  A major precipitation event occurred on May 11th and 12th.  The two day total was 2.14 inches.  Rain changed to snow on the 11th with a storm total snowfall of 10.8 inches.  This was the largest snow event on record for the month of May. 

JUNE 2010 - Wetter than Normal

Riverton's June average temperature was 62.8 degrees which was 0.9 degrees below normal.  The coldest low temperature was 37 degrees on the 18th.  The warmest high temperature was 97 degrees on the 29th.

Precipitation for June was 1.65 inches which was 0.51 inches above normal.  There was no snowfall in June. 

JULY 2010 - Drier than Normal

Riverton's July average temperature was 70.9 degrees which was 0.6 degrees above normal.  The coldest low temperature was 38 degrees on the 7th.  The warmest high temperature was 98 degrees on the 26th.  The coldest high temperature was 57 degrees on the 6th. 

Precipitation for July was 0.26 inches which was 0.47 inches below normal.  Measurable rain (0.01 inches or more) occurred on only 3 days. 

AUGUST 2010 - Warmer than Normal

Riverton's August average temperature was 69.7 degrees which was 1.5 inches above normal.  The coldest low temperature was 40 degrees on the 24th.  The warmest high temperature was 96 degrees on the 18th and 22nd. 

Precipitation for August was 0.55 inches which was 0.06 inches above normal.  Small hail was observed from a thunderstorm on the evening of the 3rd.

SEPTEMBER 2010 - Much Warmer and Much Drier than Normal 

Riverton's September average temperature was 60.3 degrees which was 3.0 degrees above normal.  September 2010 was the 14th Warmest on record.  The coldest low temperature was 32 degrees on the 7th.  The warmest high temperature was 91 degrees on the 19th.  That 91 degree high on the 19th was a record high for the date and the warmest high temperature for so late in the season.  A record high temperature of 88 degrees occurred on the 26th and 28th of September. 

Precipitation for September was 0.04 inches which was 0.84 inches below normal.  September 2010 was tied for the 9th Driest on record.  Rain occurred on only 1 day during the month...on the 23rd.  No snowfall occurred this month.

OCTOBER 2010 - Much Warmer and Drier than Normal

Riverton's October average temperature was 50.9 degrees which was 6.1 degrees above normal.  October 2010 was the 2nd Warmest on record.  The coldest low temperature was 17 degrees on the 28th.  The warmest high temperature was 86 degrees on the 3rd.   The 86 degree high on the 3rd was a record high for the date. 

Precipitation for October was 0.26 inches which was 0.55 inches below normal.  Snowfall was only a trace...on the 25th.

NOVEMBER 2010 - Warmer and Drier than Normal

Riverton's November average temperature was 31.5 degrees which was 3.3 degrees above normal.  The coldest low temperature was 5 degrees below zero on the 30th.  The warmest high temperature was 68 degrees on the 7th. 

Precipitation for November was 0.14 inches which was 0.33 inches below normal.  Snowfall was 2.7 inches which was below normal for the month.

DECEMBER 2010 - Much Warmer and Wetter than Normal

Riverton's December average temperature was 23.7 degrees which was 7.8 degrees above normal.  December 2010 ranked as the 12th Warmest on record.  The coldest low temperature was 8 degrees below zero on the 17th.  The warmest high temperature was 57 degrees on the 13th. 

Precipitation for December was 0.60 inches which was 0.24 inches above normal.  December 2010 ranked as the 11th Wettest on record.  Snowfall was 9.3 inches which was above normal and ranked as the 12th Snowiest on record.  The snowstorm that began late on the 29th and ended on the 31st provided 7.3 inches of snow.
