JANUARY 2011 – 2nd Driest on Record (tie), Normal Temperatures

     The average temperature for Rock Spings was 21.4 degrees which was exactly normal for the month. The highest
temperature for the month was 42 degrees on the 28th.
The lowest reading was 6 degrees below zero on New Year's Day. No daily temperature records were set during the month.

     Total precipitation for the month was only 0.04 inches was 10 percent of normal.

APRIL 2011 – Cooler and Wetter than Normal

temperature for the month was 69 degrees on the 2nd, a new record high for the date.
The lowest reading was

     Total precipitation for the month was 1.30 inches which was 143 percent of normal.  The highest daily precipitation
total during the month was 0.30 inches on the 17th. 

     The maximum wind gust of 58 mph out of the southwest was recorded on the 21st.
 

MAY 2011 – 4th Coldest, 9th Wettest on Record

     The average temperature for Rock Spings was 45.8 degrees which was 4.9 degrees below normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 73 degrees on the 7th and 8th.
The lowest reading was 19 degrees on the 1st.

     Total precipitation for the month was 2.44 inches which was 202 percent of normal.  0.60 inches of precipitation

     The average temperature for Rock Spings was 59.3 degrees which was 1.3 degrees below normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 88 degrees on the 28th.
The lowest reading was 31 degrees on the 3rd.  No daily temperature records were set during the month.

     Total precipitation for the month was 0.81 inches which was 103 percent of normal.  The highest daily rainfall
total was 0.46 inches on the 19th.  0.21 inches of rain that fell on the 30th set a new daily precipitation record
for that date.

     The maximum wind gust of 54 mph out of the west was recorded on the 6th.
 

JULY 2011 – Near Normal Temperatures and Precipitation

     The average temperature for Rock Spings was 69.3 degrees which was 0.4 degrees above normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 92 degrees on the 3rd and 25th, also the highest temperature in 2011.  The 92 degree temperature on the 25th set a new record high for the date. 
The lowest reading was 48 degrees on the 23rd. 

     Total precipitation for the month was 0.66 inches which was 103 percent of normal. The highest daily rainfall
total was 0.19 inches on the 17th.

     The maximum wind gust of 44 mph out of the southwest was recorded on the 19th.
 

AUGUST 2011 – Warmer and Drier than Normal

     The average temperature for Rock Spings was 70.3 degrees which was 3.4 degrees above normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 92 degrees on the 24th; a new record high for the date and a new record high so late in the season.
High temperatures of 90 degrees set new records on the 23rd, 26th (tie), and 27th.  The lowest reading
was 48 degrees on the 8th.

     Total precipitation for the month was 0.39 inches which was 63 percent of normal. 0.26 inches of rainfall on the 15th and 0.09 inches of rainfall on the 27th set new daily precipitation records on the respective dates. 

     The maximum wind gust of 52 mph out of the south was recorded on the 15th.
 

SEPTEMBER 2011 – 10th Driest on Record, Warmer than Normal

     The average temperature for Rock Spings was 60.2 degrees which was 3.7 degrees above normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 85 degrees on the 1st.
The lowest reading was 36 degrees on the 21st. No daily temperature records were set during the month.

     Total precipitation for the month was 0.17 inches which was only 18 percent of normal. The highest daily rainfall
total was 0.11 inches on the 6th.
