JANUARY 2011 – Sub-Zero Start to 2011, Drier and Colder than Normal

     The average temperature for Worland was 13.4 degrees which was 3.7 degrees below normal. The highest
temperature for January was 44 degrees which occurred on the 17th.
The lowest reading was 25 degrees
below zero which occurred on New Year's Day. 
No daily record temperatures were set or tied during the month.

     Total precipitation for the month was 0.14 inches which was 61 percent of normal.

     The maximum wind gust of 48 mph out of the northwest was recorded on the 22nd.
 

FEBRUARY 2011 – 3rd Coldest on Record, Drier than Normal

     The average temperature for Worland was 13.9 degrees which was 9.9 degrees below normal. The highest
temperature for February was 53 degrees on the 13th.
The lowest reading for the month and 2011 was 33 degrees below zero on the 2nd.  A low temperature of 14 below zero set a new record low on the 21st.

     The average temperature for Worland was 37.3 degrees which was 0.8 degrees above normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 68 degrees which occurred on the 31st.
The lowest reading was 2 degrees below zero occurred on the 7th.  No daily record temperatures were set or tied during the month.

     Total precipitation for the month was 0.43 inches which was 93 percent of normal. 0.23 inches of precipitation on the 22nd set a new daily precipitation record for the date. 

     The maximum wind gust of 47 mph out of the southwest was recorded on the 19th.

 

 

APRIL 2011 – Colder and Drier than Normal

     The average temperature for Worland was 42.9 degrees which was 2.8 degrees below normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 77 degrees which occurred on the 2nd, which also set a record high for the date.
The lowest reading was 19 degrees on the 4th.   A low temperature of 22 on the 24th tied a record low for the date.  

     Total precipitation for the month was 0.62 inches which was 72 percent of normal.

     The maximum wind gust of 49 mph out of the north was recorded on the 3rd.
 

MAY 2011 – Wettest on Record, 2nd Coldest on Record

     The average temperature for Worland was 50.2 degrees which was 5.2 degrees below normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 74 degrees which occurred on the 7th.
The lowest reading was 24 degrees
which occurred on 1st. 
A low of 24 degrees on the 1st tied a record low for the date, and a low of 37 on the 31st also tied a record low for the date.

     Total precipitation for the month was 4.52 inches which was 319 percent of normal and the wettest May on record. 0.94 inches of precipitation fell on the 10th which set a new daily record for the date.  0.84 inches of precipitation on the 30th also set a new daily record for the date.

JUNE 2011 – 11th Wettest June, Near Normal Temperatures

     The average temperature for Worland was 63.8 degrees which was 0.9 degrees below normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 96 degrees which occurred on the 28th and 29th.
The lowest reading was 36 degrees
which occurred on the 3rd which also set a record low for the date.  

     Total precipitation for the month was 1.66 inches which was 144 percent of normal.  1.19 inches of precipitation on the 10th was the highest daily total in 2011, the highest daily total on record received in June, and the 9th highest daily total on record for all dates. 

     The maximum wind gust of 54 mph out of the southwest was recorded on the 6th.
 

 

JULY 2011 – Warmer and Wetter than Normal, Damaging Microburst Winds on the 3rd

     The average temperature for Worland was 75.5 degrees which was 3.5 degrees above normal. The highest
temperature for the month and 2011 was 102 degrees which occurred on the 17th.
The lowest reading was 52 degrees on the 21st.  No daily record temperatures were set or tied during the month.

     Total precipitation for the month was only 0.87 inches which was 123 percent of normal; 0.69 inches of this
total occurred on the 18th and 19th. 

     The maximum wind gust for the month and 2011 of 62 mph out of the southwest was recorded on the 3rd.  These strong winds were associated with a thunderstorm producing a dry microburst that blew down trees and power poles,  damaging some homes in the Worland area. 
 

 

AUGUST 2011 – 5th Driest, Much Warmer than Normal

      The average temperature for Worland was 73.0 degrees which was 2.9 degrees above normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 98 degrees which occurred on the 24th and 27th.
The lowest reading was 48 degrees
on the 17th.

     Total precipitation for the month was 0.05 inches which was only 12 percent of normal.

OCTOBER 2011 – 2nd Wettest, 8th Warmest on Record

      The average temperature for Worland was 50.3 degrees which was 4.8 degrees above normal. The highest
temperature for the month was 91 degrees which occurred on the 1st which set an all time record high for October at Worland, and also a record high so late in the season.
The lowest reading was 20 degrees on the 28th. 

     Total precipitation for the month was 1.86 inches which was 270 percent of normal.  The highest daily total was 0.93 inches on the 7th.  0.46 inches on the 6th and 0.28 inches on the 17th set new daily precipitation records for the respective dates. 

     The maximum wind gust of 43 mph out of the south was recorded on the 5th.
