Monthly Climate Summary - July 2012

July 2012 will go down as one of the warmest and driest on record for much of the Missouri Ozarks and southeast Kansas. The only exception was a part of central Missouri which had above normal precipitation for the month. In fact, both Springfield and Joplin set records for the driest July on record. Joplin did not even measure a hundredth for the month. Every station ranked in the top 4 for warmest July on record and all but Vichy-Rolla ranked in the top 4 for driest on record.  July reached 90 degrees or above every single day of the month and had an average daily high of 99.7 degrees!  Springfield broke or tied 11 temperature records for the month and West Plains 12 records.  (see the records link for a listing of all the records.)
