Storm Event Summary

May 25, 2011

Storms developed in the Plains during the evening of the 24th and began to push east into southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri by late evening on the 24th.  These storms then tracked east across the Ozarks during the overnight hours producing the first tornado of the day around 130 AM over Douglas and Webster counties.

The main front which had been nearly stationary in the Plains for a few days, finally began to move eastward by the morning of the 25th.  As you will see later in the radar loop, storms began to refire towards the mid to late morning ahead of the front.  A second round of severe storms occurred from late morning through the afternoon hours and also produced the second tornado of the day in Oregon county.
