...January 2008 Climate Summary...

January 2008 will go down as quite the roller coaster ride with abnormally warm temperatures from the 5th through 8th which led to the unprecedented tornado outbreak from the afternoon of the 7th and into the morning of the 8th.  This system also brought significant rainfall and quite a bit of flooding to areas of McDonald and Barry counties. Temperatures came around to more normal readings between the 9th and 18th of the month.  A strong arctic high pressure system moved into the area and brought much below normal temperatures between the 19th and 25th of the month.  Highs did warm back into the low to mid 60s from the 27th through 29th when a very strong cold front moved through and dropped temperatures 40 or more degrees in 2 to 3 hours.  The month ended with a snowstorm on the 31st of the month...mainly affecting locations along the Missouri Arkansas border.
