...March 2008 Climate Summary...

March 2008 came in like a lion, and the lion decided to stick around throughout the month.  It was another month where the La Nina pattern brought several significant storm system to the area along with tremendous amounts of moisture.  Record rainfall was set for the second month in a row at Springfield and Vichy, and West Plains set a record for the month of March as well.

Most of the precipitation came in 4 different storm systems.  The month began with a snowstorm on the 4th of the month.  The storm system which brought the most rainfall occurred on the 17th into the 18th where some locations had over 10 inches of rain.  Severe flooding occurred across a large portion of southern and south central Missouri.  There was another severe weather event on the 27th and again on the 31st.  Both of these events also brought more heavy rain and flooding to the area.
