THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL
ILLINOIS...NORTHWEST ILLINOIS...WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS...EAST
CENTRAL IOWA...NORTHEAST IOWA...SOUTHEAST IOWA AND NORTHEAST
MISSOURI.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

A SEASONALLY STRONG COOL FRONT WILL FIRE THUNDERSTORMS TODAY AND AGAIN
TONIGHT. CURRENT INDICATIONS SUPPORT STRONG TO LOCALLY SEVERE STORMS
WITH THE MAIN THREAT STRONG DAMAGING WINDS UP TO 70 MPH. HIGH MOISTURE
LEVELS ALSO SUPPORT HEAVY RAINS WITH WIDESPREAD 1 PLUS INCH AMOUNTS
AND THE RISK FOR LOCALIZED 2 TO 3 INCH AMOUNTS WHICH MAY RESULT IN
RIVER FLOODING AND LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING. THE GREATEST RISK OF SEVERE
WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO BE BETWEEN NOON AND MIDNIGHT OVER MOST OR ALL
OF THE OUTLOOK AREA.

THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ALMOST ALL OF THE OUTLOOK AREA IN A
SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.

THIS AFTERNOON...HEAT INDEX VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO EXCEED 100 DEGREES
FOR SEVERAL HOURS OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST IOWA...FAR NORTHEAST MISSOURI
AND WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS AHEAD OF THE COOL FRONT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY.
HOWEVER...IT IS TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN QUAD CITIES HAS ISSUED A HEAT
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM CDT THIS
EVENING.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...UP TO 104 DUE TO TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER
  80S...AND DEWPOINTS IN THE MID 70S.

* TIMING...FROM LATE TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY
  EVENING...WITH HIGHEST VALUES DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS.

* IMPACTS...HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES WILL BE POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH
HUMIDITY IS EXPECTED.  THIS COMBINATION WILL LEAD TO POSSIBLE
HEAT ILLNESSES.  DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-
CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK ON RELATIVES
AND NEIGHBORS...ESPECIALLY THE ELDERLY.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING.  KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE.  WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS.  ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
