URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...LIGHT FREEZING RAIN TONIGHT...

.AREAS OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL
OVERSPREAD THE AREA FROM SOUTH TO NORTH THIS EVENING AND INTO THE
OVERNIGHT. ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE GENERALLY LIGHT...BUT STILL
ENOUGH TO PRODUCE SLICK ROADS AND SIDEWALKS. ALTHOUGH THE AIR
TEMPERATURE IS EXPECTED TO RISE OVERNIGHT AT OR ABOVE FREEZING IN
MUCH OF THE ADVISORY AREA...THE FROZEN GROUND WILL STILL CAUSE
THE RAIN TO FREEZE. TEMPERATURES MAY WARM INTO THE MID TO UPPER
30S AFTER 3 AM CST SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80 AND LIMIT THE FREEZING
RAIN IN THOSE AREAS BY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. CONTINUED WARMING
TEMPERATURES AFTER 6 AM CST SATURDAY MORNING SHOULD MELT ANY
ACCUMULATED ICE.

EVENING TO 6 AM CST SATURDAY...

* TIMING...FREEZING RAIN WILL ARRIVE AND BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD
  AFTER 9 PM AND CONTINUE THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. THIS
  PRECIPITATION WILL GRADUALLY CHANGE OVER TO RAIN FROM SOUTH TO
  NORTH AFTER 3 AM CST AND THROUGH SUNRISE SATURDAY MORNING.

* STORM TOTAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS...UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH OF
  ICE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED.

* IMPACTS...FREEZING RAIN WILL MAKE ROADWAYS AND SIDEWALKS
  SLICK. FROZEN BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES WILL ALSO BE SUSCEPTIBLE
  TO SLICK SPOTS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR
FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES.  BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS.  SLOW DOWN AND BE CAREFUL WHILE TRAVELING.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

LIGHT FREEZING RAIN WILL SPREAD FROM SOUTH TO NORTH ACROSS THE OUTLOOK
AREA TONIGHT...AND A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT. ROADS WILL
BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS AS SURFACE AND GROUND TEMPERATURES
REMAIN BELOW FREEZING. BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES WILL BE ESPECIALLY
HAZARDOUS. OVERNIGHT ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM A LIGHT GLAZE...
UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH IN SOME LOCATIONS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

DENSE FOG IS POSSIBLE SATURDAY NIGHT...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND WEST
OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

ON SUNDAY...A POTENT STORM SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE MODERATE TO LOCALLY
HEAVY RAINFALL...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI
RIVER. LOCALIZED FLOODING IS POSSIBLE DUE TO RUNOFF RESULTING FROM
THE FROZEN GROUND.

ON MONDAY...EXPECT WINDY CONDITIONS AND LIGHT SNOW. ALTHOUGH
ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD BE LIGHT...LOW VISIBILITY IN BLOWING SNOW
WILL BE POSSIBLE.

A CLIPPER SYSTEM COULD BRING MORE ACCUMULATING SNOW TO THE AREA ON
WEDNESDAY.

SPOTTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REPORT FREEZING RAIN ACCUMULATIONS
TONIGHT...AND RAINFALL AMOUNTS AND LOCALIZED FLOODING OVER THE WEEKEND.
