...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT MONDAY...

A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT MONDAY.

* TIMING...HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL PEAK BETWEEN NOON AND 6 PM EACH
DAY THROUGH MONDAY. THERE ARE INDICATIONS THAT THIS DANGEROUS
HEAT WILL LIKELY CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY AS WELL.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...THE HEAT INDEX WILL PEAK FROM 100 TO 109
DEGREES IN THE AFTERNOON HOURS. MONDAY IS LIKELY TO HAVE THE
HIGHEST HEAT INDEX VALUES DURING THE PERIOD.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES...HIGH HUMIDITY
AND FAIRLY LIGHT WINDS WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASED RISK OF HEAT
RELATED STRESS AND ILLNESS. THE EFFECTS ARE CUMULATIVE THE
LONGER THE HEAT PERSISTS. THE VERY YOUNG...THE ELDERLY...THOSE
WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING...AND THOSE PARTICIPATING IN STRENUOUS
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WILL BE THE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE. CAR INTERIORS
WILL REACH LETHAL TEMPERATURES IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. BEAT THE
HEAT...CHECK THE BACK SEAT! NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR PETS
  UNATTENDED IN A VEHICLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE.
DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY
OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
