THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF EASTERN KENTUCKY.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF FREEZING RAIN AND SNOW MIXING WITH
RAIN LATE TONIGHT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

THE FORECAST CONTINUES TO INDICATE A WARM UP AND THE LIKELIHOOD
OF A PROLONGED RAINFALL EVENT THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. THIS
RAIN...IN ADDITION TO THE MELTING OF THE CURRENT SNOW PACK...MEANS
A HEIGHTENED RISK FOR FLOODING FOR ALL OF EASTERN KENTUCKY. AS IT
STANDS NOW...FLOODING APPEARS MOST LIKELY ALONG PORTIONS OF THE
KENTUCKY AND CUMBERLAND RIVER BASINS BY THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK.

ANOTHER WINTRY WEATHER SYSTEM IS BEGINNING TO TAKE SHAPE IN THE
FORECAST MID WEEK. AT THIS TIME...IT APPEARS THAT SIGNIFICANT
ACCUMULATING SNOW IS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY.
HOWEVER...THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE EXACT
TRACK OF THIS STORM SYSTEM...SO STAY TUNED FOR THE LATEST UPDATES
AND POSSIBLE CHANGES TO THE FORECAST CONCERNING THIS STORM.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY
454 PM EST SUN MAR 1 2015

...HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING POSSIBLE THIS COMING WEEK...

A PROLONGED ROUND OF PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED ACROSS EAST
KENTUCKY BETWEEN TUESDAY AND THURSDAY...AS A COLD FRONT SLOWLY
SHIFTS SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE REGION. IN GENERAL...TWO TO THREE
INCHES OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY AMOUNTS OF RAIN...A FEW TO SEVERAL
INCHES OF SNOW REMAIN ON THE GROUND OVER MUCH OF EASTERN
KENTUCKY...WITH THIS SNOW HOLDING A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF WATER
CONTENT...PARTICULARLY ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS BORDERING
VIRGINIA AND IN NEARBY PORTIONS OF VIRGINIA AND WEST VIRGINIA.
THESE HIGHER ELEVATION LOCATIONS ARE THE HEADWATER REGIONS FOR THE
CUMBERLAND...KENTUCKY...AND BIG SANDY RIVERS AND THIS MELTING
SNOWPACK WILL CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE POTENTIAL RUNOFF
INTO THESE RIVERS THIS COMING WEEK.

SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS WILL BE THE FIRST TO EXPERIENCE
SUBSTANTIAL RISES AND POSSIBLE FLOODING THIS COMING WEEK. AS THE
WATER COLLECTS INTO THE LARGER CREEKS AND RIVERS...SIGNIFICANT
RISES AND AT LEAST MINOR RIVER FLOODING IS LIKELY. MORE
SIGNIFICANT RIVER FLOODING IS POSSIBLE...BUT THE SEVERITY OF ANY
RIVER FLOODING IS STILL IN QUESTION AND WILL DEPEND SIGNIFICANTLY
ON WHERE THE HEAVIEST RAIN FALLS.

VISIT OUR INTERNET WEBSITE AT WWW.WEATHER.GOV/JKL OR LISTEN TO
NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA FOR THE LATEST UPDATES ON
THIS POTENTIAL FLOOD THREAT.
