...AIR POLLUTION ALERT REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR DUST FOR RAPID CITY
WEST OF THE GAP THROUGH TONIGHT...

VERY STRONG WINDS ARE EXPECTED TODAY...WITH SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30
TO 40 MPH AND GUSTS OVER 60 MPH. WINDS WILL DECREASE TONIGHT BUT
STILL REMAIN BREEZY. THE GUSTY WINDS WILL SUSPEND FINE DUST IN
THE AIR OVER WEST RAPID CITY PRODUCING POOR AIR QUALITY.

THE RAPID CITY AIR QUALITY OFFICE RECOMMENDS THE
ELDERLY...YOUNG...AND ANYONE WITH RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS AVOID
EXCESSIVE PHYSICAL EXERTION AND EXPOSURE TO THE OUTSIDE AIR.

VOLUNTARY ACTIONS TO REDUCE DUST POLLUTION INCLUDE...CEASING OR
REDUCING THE MANIPULATION OF SOIL IN
CONSTRUCTION...INDUSTRIAL...AND AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES...AND

AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL SWEEP THROUGH THE NORTHERN
PLAINS...BRINGING VERY STRONG WINDS TO THE AREA TODAY. SUSTAINED
WIND SPEEDS OF 35 TO 50 MPH AND GUSTS UP TO 75 MPH ARE EXPECTED.
WINDS WILL DECREASE TONIGHT BUT STILL REMAIN BREEZY.
