Accessing TAMDAR Data

NWS - General Instructions for Accessing TAMDAR Data via MADIS

To access the TAMDAR data via MADIS, NWS Forecast Offices will need to do the following:

1) Complete the MADIS data application located on the FSL MADIS website. Be sure to specify "Automated Aircraft" in the data request section.

2) Once approved for a MADIS account (it will probably take a few days), you will be able to access and download all the appropriate README files containing detailed instructions on how to ingest and display the TAMDAR data in AWIPS.

Note:    TAMDAR data (along with other aircraft data) will also be made available via the FSL ACARS web page at http://acweb.fsl.noaa.gov.


Non-NWS - General Instructions for Non-AWIPS Users to Access TAMDAR Data via MADIS

Airline, University, non-NWS Government Access:
NWS, airline, university, and non-NWS government meteorologists may view the TAMDAR along with other aircraft data at the FSL ACARS web site at http://acweb.fsl.noaa.gov, or obtain data files via ftp, ldm, or OPeNDAP from the FSL MADIS system.

To access the TAMDAR data via MADIS for non-AWIPS users:

1) Complete the MADIS data application located on the FSL MADIS website. Be sure to specify "Automated Aircraft" in the data request section.

2) Once approved for a MADIS account (it will probably take a few days), you will be able to access and download all the appropriate README files containing detailed instructions on how to obtain the TAMDAR data files.
