The Winter Storm of February 1st and 2nd

A winter storm that affected North Central, Northeast and East Central Kansas on February 1st and 2nd brought significant snowfall and ice accumulation to the region.  The precipitation fell as mainly snow across North Central and Northeast Kansas with reports of anywhere from 4 to 12 inches (Figure 1).  A wintry mix of snow, freezing rain, and sleet resulted in accumulations of less than 3 inches in East Central Kansas.  Many locales experienced the highest snow fall amounts they have seen in several years.
