June 7, 2007 near Kyle, SD Tornado

A tornado tracked south of Kyle, South Dakota Wednesday, June 6.  The tornado touched down at 3:10 p.m. about nine miles south of Kyle, just west of American Horse Creek Road, where it damaged a mobile home, snapped power poles, and uprooted trees.  It traveled over open country for about seven miles, finally dissipating 25 minutes later about six miles southeast of Kyle.

A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service determined the tornado was an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which means winds were estimated between 86 and 110 mph.
