April 21, 2011 Hail and Rain in Rapid City, SD

A small but intense thunderstorm produced hail and heavy rain across Rapid City during the evening. Penny to nickel sized hail (3/4 to 7/8" diameter) and about a half inch of rain fell in a half an hour at the National Weather Service office near downtown Rapid City. The hail covered the ground, looking like the snow that fell just a few days ago.
