May 28, 2013 - A small tornado touched down briefly on the south edge of Allen, South Dakota, about 14 miles northwest of Martin. It smashed a mobile home, tore the roof and several walls from a stick built house, and damaged roofs of several other houses. A survey by the National Weather Service estimated the winds were 105 to 110 mph based on the extent of damage.  The tornado was given a rating of EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale ranking of zero through five.
