Wind Roses
- All: Includes VFR, IFR and LIFR conditions.
- VFR: VFR stands for visual flight rules. VFR is used by pilots when the visibility is greater than 5 miles and the ceiling (height at which clouds cover 5/8s of the sky or better) is greater than 3000 feet AGL (above ground level).
- IFR: IFR stands for instrument flight rules. IFR is used by pilots when the visibility is 1 to less than 3 miles and the ceiling (height at which clouds cover 5/8s of the sky or better) is greater or equal to 500 to 1000 feet AGL (above ground level).
- LIFR: LIFR stands for limited instrument flight rules. LIFR is used by pilots when the visibility is less than 1 mile and the ceiling (height at which clouds cover 5/8s of the sky or better) is less than 500 feet AGL (above ground level).
- The values of the rings on the graphs are frequency in percent; for example, a bar with a length of 30 means the wind is from that direction 30 percent of the time.
