...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR FALL RIVER...CUSTER...
SOUTHWESTERN PENNINGTON AND WESTERN SHANNON COUNTIES UNTIL 1230 PM
MDT...

AT 931 AM MDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR AND TRAINED
WEATHER SPOTTERS INDICATED AN AREA OF VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS
SOUTHWESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA. WIDESPREAD AREAS OF THREE TO FIVE INCHES
OF RAIN HAVE BEEN REPORTED SO FAR.

HEAVY RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA. RUNOFF FROM
THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO OCCUR. THE
HEAVY RAIN WILL TAPPER OFF THIS AFTERNOON...WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS
CONTINUING THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

RAPID CREEK IN RAPID VALLEY WAS OUT OF ITS BANKS. ONE TO TWO INCHES
OF WATER WAS COVERING A SMALL PORTION OF ANDERSON ROAD EAST OF RAPID
CITY.

NO REPORTS OF FLOODING HAVE BEEN RECEIVED IN FALL RIVER OR CUSTER
COUNTIES SO FAR. HOWEVER...SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS ARE RUNNING VERY
HIGH. DEBRIS IN THESE STREAMS CAN QUICKLY BLOCK CULVERTS...WHICH
COULD CAUSE MINOR FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY.
