...LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND DRIZZLE POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF
NORTH CAROLINAS NORTHERN MOUNTAINS TONIGHT...

CHANCES FOR LIGHT RAIN WILL INCREASE AFTER MIDNIGHT ACROSS THE
NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS. POCKETS OF FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE
EXPECTED TO REMAIN OR DEVELOP IN THE MOUNTAINS NORTH OF I-40
OVERNIGHT. THESE POCKETS OF FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL BE MOST
LIKELY ALONG THE IMMEDIATE BLUE RIDGE...AND ABOVE ABOUT 4000 FEET.
THIS COULD RESULT IN LIGHT RAIN FREEZING ON CONTACT WITH
SURFACES. ANY ICE ACCUMULATION WILL BE VERY LIGHT...AND PRIMARILY
CONFINED TO ELEVATED SURFACES. HOWEVER...A FEW SLICK SPOTS COULD
DEVELOP ON ROADS...ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE HIGH ELEVATIONS.

MOTORISTS TRAVELING ACROSS THE AREA LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY
SHOULD USE EXTRA CAUTION...ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING OVER BRIDGES
AND OVERPASSES.

WARM AND MOIST AIR WILL OVERSPREAD A DEVELOPING COLD AIR WEDGE
ALONG THE EASTERN SEABOARD WHICH WILL ALLOW PRECIPITATION TO
DEVELOP LATE TONIGHT. BY DAYBREAK TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD
ENOUGH AT SOME LOCATIONS FOR PATCHY FREEZING RAIN TO CREATE
SLIPPERY SPOTS ON UNTREATED ROADS...BRIDGES...AND OVERPASSES.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.

PATCHY FREEZING RAIN WILL END MONDAY MORNING AS TEMPERATURES WARM
AND PRECIPITATION TAPERS OFF.

A DEEP LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DRAG A STRONG COLD FRONT ACROSS
THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY EVENING. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY
WINDS WILL BE POSSIBLE INTO THURSDAY.
