THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST OHIO...
SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN...NORTHERN INDIANA AND THE NEARSHORE WATERS
OF SOUTHEASTERN LAKE MICHIGAN.

.DAY ONE...LATE TODAY AND TONIGHT

SNOW WILL DEVELOP WEST OF US 31 IN INDIANA BY DAYBREAK TUESDAY.
ACCUMULATION WILL BE VERY LIGHT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

LIGHT SNOW WILL EXPAND ACROSS THE AREA EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.
ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY CLOSER TO
THE MICHIGAN STATE LINE. SNOW WILL CHANGE TO A PERIOD OF FREEZING
RAIN FROM MID MORNING INTO EARLY AFTERNOON BEFORE TURNING TO JUST
RAIN AS TEMPERATURES WARM ABOVE FREEZING. ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE
TO TWO TENTHS ARE POSSIBLE.

THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY WITH HOW FAST TEMPERATURES WILL
WARM ABOVE THE FREEZING MARK TUESDAY. THIS WILL ULTIMATELY
DETERMINE HOW MUCH ICE ACCUMULATES ON SURFACES.

THE COMBINATION OF RAIN AND MELTING SNOW MAY LEAD TO SOME MINOR
FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS WHERE DRAINS ARE COVERED BY SNOW. SOME
ICE JAM FLOODING COULD OCCUR AS WELL ON FROZEN STREAMS AND CREEKS.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER REPORTS OF PRECIPITATION TYPE AS WELL AS SNOW AND ICE
ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED ON TUESDAY.

HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDIANAPOLIS IN
1246 PM EST MON MAR 2 2015

...River flooding possible in central and southern Indiana...

River flooding may develop this week in central and southern Indiana.

The combination of melting snow and rain on Tuesday and much of
Tuesday night may cause river flooding to develop by Wednesday. At
this time flooding is expected to be rather limited. However if
temperatures rise into the middle to upper 40s or higher and
accompanied with an inch or more of rainfall...significant flooding
could develop.

As of early Monday afternoon...streams and rivers remained low..Snow
depth ranged from less than an inch near the Ohio River in extreme
southern Indiana to more than 10 inches in central Indiana. Water
equivalent of the snow pack in central was at least an inch in
several areas.

The ground remains frozen in much of the state and will likely
remain frozen during this rain event. As a result, almost all of the
rain and melting snow will run directly into the streams. If
drainage culverts remain covered with snow and/or debris...local
flood problems may develop.

Local concerns should monitor weather and river conditions through
at least Thursday. Flood statements and/or Flood Warnings
will be issued as necessary as more information becomes available.

For detailed flood information go to weather.gov/ind on the web. From
the blue menu bar on the left side of the page...click on rivers and
lakes.
