...WINTRY-LIKE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS OF THE EAST TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS TODAY...

ANOTHER SURGE OF COLD AIR MOVES IN TODAY AS THE CENTER OF AN UPPER
LEVEL LOW MOVES DOWN ACROSS THE AREA. THIS LOW PRESSURE CENTER
WILL BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF PRECIPITATION INTO THE REGION.

TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD ENOUGH ACROSS THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS...GENERALLY
AT OR ABOVE 4500 FEET...FOR SNOW SHOWERS. SNOW ACCUMULATION UP TO
ONE INCH IS POSSIBLE BY MID TO LATE AFTERNOON AT AND ABOVE 5000
FEET. SNOW TAPERS OFF BY LATE AFTERNOON AS THE CENTER OF THE LOW
EXITS TO OUR SOUTHEAST INTO THE CAROLINAS.

AREAS MOST AT RISK OF SEEING SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE ACROSS THE
HIGHEST ELEVATIONS OF THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS. ANYONE VENTURING
ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS...SUCH AS HIKERS OR PERSONS TRAVELING
ACROSS HIGHWAY 441...SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR WINTRY-LIKE CONDITIONS
BEGINNING LATE THIS MORNING...AND LASTING INTO THE MID-TO-LATE
AFTERNOON HOURS.

AREA HIKERS AND OUTDOORSMEN SHOULD ALSO BE AWARE THAT EVEN AT
ELEVATIONS DOWN TO 3000 FEET...TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE MID TO
UPPER 30S WITH A COLD RAIN FALLING. THESE CONDITIONS COULD
POTENTIALLY LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF UNPREPARED.

CAROLINA...EAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...

...SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH SMALL HAIL ARE EXPECTED
TODAY...
...WINTRY CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS
TODAY AND TONIGHT...

ANOTHER SHOT OF COLD AIR AND MOISTURE MOVES IN TODAY AS THE CENTER
OF AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PASSES THROUGH THE AREA. SHOWERS AND ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS WITH SMALL HAIL ARE EXPECTED TODAY.

SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE POSSIBLE ALONG THE EAST TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS
AS TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING ACROSS THE HIGHEST
ELEVATIONS. THE SNOW/RAIN LINE WILL GENERALLY BE AT OR ABOVE 4500
FEET. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AROUND 1 INCH ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH EARLY
AFTERNOON ABOVE 5000 FEET.

AREA HIKERS AND OUTDOORSMEN SHOULD BE AWARE THAT EVEN AT ELEVATIONS
DOWN TO 3000 FEET...TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE MID TO UPPER 30S
WITH A COLD RAIN FALLING. THESE CONDITIONS COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD
TO HYPOTHERMIA IF UNPREPARED.

ANOTHER WAVE OF WRAP AROUND MOISTURE MOVES IN TONIGHT AS THE LOW
MOVES INTO THE CAROLINAS. ANOTHER BRIEF SHOT AT SNOW IS POSSIBLE
ABOVE 500O FEET WITH SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AROUND HALF AN INCH.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...

NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

ELEVATE THE RISK FOR LOCALIZED FLOODING...ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE
APPALACHIANS.
