...SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW FOR CHRISTMAS...

.AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL SHIFT EASTWARD TOWARD THE NORTHERN
PLAINS TONIGHT...BRINGING SNOW AND BREEZY WINDS TO THE REGION.
SNOW WILL EXPAND ACROSS NORTHEASTERN WYOMING AND SOUTH DAKOTA
THROUGH CHRISTMAS DAY...GRADUALLY SHIFTING SOUTHEASTWARD CHRISTMAS
NIGHT. GENERALLY 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED ACROSS
NORTHEASTERN WYOMING AND MUCH OF WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA... WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. NORTHWESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA SHOULD
SEE LESSER AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES. BREEZY NORTHERLY WINDS MAY
CAUSE SOME PATCHY BLOWING SNOW AS WELL.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA AROUND MID-DAY
  THURSDAY...AND CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT.

* MAIN HAZARD...3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
  AMOUNTS...ESPECIALLY AROUND THE PINE RIDGE AREA.

* OTHER CONDITIONS...BREEZY NORTHERLY WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL
  CREATE PATCHY BLOWING SNOW...WHICH MAY CAUSE REDUCED
  VISIBILITIES.

* IMPACTS...SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING
  CONDITIONS.

NIGHT...

.A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE ONE OR MORE BANDS OF LIGHT TO
MODERATE SNOW ON CHRISTMAS DAY THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. A GENERAL
LIGHT ACCUMULATION OF 2 TO 4 INCHES IS EXPECTED WITH LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. AS IS OFTEN THE CASE WITH BANDED SNOW
EVENTS...IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOME AREAS MAY ONLY SEE AN INCH WHILE
OTHER AREAS SEE 5 OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW. WIND SPEEDS ARE NOT
EXPECTED TO BE MUCH MORE THAN 10 TO 20 MPH PERHAPS WITH SOME
OCCASIONAL HIGHER GUSTS...SO SIGNIFICANT VISIBILITY RESTRICTIONS
AND BLOWING SNOW IS NOT ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME WITH THIS SYSTEM.

* TIMING...MEANINGFUL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS TO BEGIN BY MID DAY
  THURSDAY AND CONTINUING UNTIL EARLY MORNING ON FRIDAY.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTH WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WITH OCCASIONAL
  HIGHER GUSTS OF 25 TO 30 MPH.

* SNOW/ICE ACCUMULATIONS...EXPECT A GENERAL BLANKET OF 2 TO 4
  INCHES OF SNOW WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

* OTHER IMPACTS...TRAVEL ON CHRISTMAS DAY AND FRIDAY COULD BE
  HAMPERED DUE TO FALLING AND DRIFTING SNOW. BE SURE TO INCLUDE
  EXTRA TRAVEL TIME AND REACH YOUR DESTINATION SAFELY THIS HOLIDAY
  SEASON.
