Graphical depiction of the weather story for today.

Finally some good news in the forecast for a change as the unseasonably cold pattern we have been in for quite some time will gradually break down this weekend allowing much warmer air to push in and hold over the region through most of next week. Near record cold temperatures today will be 30 degrees below where they should be for early March with afternoon temperatures struggling through the teens to low 20s. Warmer air will start its push into the Midwest on Friday with highs from the mid 20s east to the upper 30s far southwest IL. Then by Saturday and Sunday, daytime highs are expected to soar into the 40s, with 50 to 60 degrees from Tuesday through Thursday!
