Low pressure shifting northeastward toward the Upper Peninsula through tonight will bring a wintry mix of precipitation to the area. Far western Upper Michigan will see up to 8 inches of system snow through tonight before transitioning to lake effect snow overnight through Thursday. A mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow is expected across central Upper Michigan with accumulations reaching around 2 to 4 inches, while the eastern half of the U.P. may end up transitioning to mainly rain by early this afternoon. Only minor ice accumulations are expected with this system. Colder air and lake effect snow will push into the U.P. by this weekend!
